Public maps & share links
Sometimes you want people to see a map without granting each of them a role. There are two ways to do that, and both are read-only — equivalent to Viewer access.
Public maps
Mark a map as public and anyone with the link can view it, signed in or not. No access entry required. It's the right choice for a map you're happy for anyone to see.
Share links
A private map can issue a share token — a secret link that grants guest, read-only access. Anyone who opens the map with the token can view it; the token is remembered for their session. It's ideal for:
- showing a scout's findings to an ally for one operation
- giving an FC a look at the chain without adding them to the access list
A Manager generates the share link and can revoke it at any time, which instantly invalidates the old link. Note that a share token itself does not expire — only granted access entries have expiration dates — so revoke it when you're done.
Neither public access nor a share link lets a guest edit the map or see live character positions; both are view-only.
