Preserve mass
Sometimes you want to keep a hole's mass intact so it's still there when you need it later, a rolling exit, a staging route, or a hole you're deliberately keeping fresh. Preserve mass is a flag that tells everyone on the map: don't push heavy ships through this connection.
What it does
It's a signal, nothing more. It does not change how mass is tracked, it does not stop the mass status from updating, and it does not protect the connection from cleanup. It simply marks the hole so your fleet knows to treat it gently and route heavy ships elsewhere.
Turning it on
You can toggle it from two places:
- Right-click the connection and choose Preserve mass.
- Open the menu on a wormhole signature that's linked to the connection and choose Preserve mass there.
Both act on the same connection, so it doesn't matter which side you set it from.
Where you'll see it
A connection with preserve mass on shows a small heart badge on its line, and a Preserve mass row appears in the connection's status popup. That's your cue to take the long way around with anything heavy.
